Michael “Hitman” Ani and Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu, a two-time West African Welterweight Champion, will headline the second edition of Street Rumble. The fight is set for 13 December at Maracana Square in Ajegunle, Lagos.

This super-welterweight match, confirmed by Match Makers Sports International, brings together two Nigerian boxers. Their first fight was called off before it even started.

Ani and Olowu were supposed to meet on 20 April 2025. But the fight was canceled after Ani got an arm injury during training a week before the match.

The injury kept Ani out for a long time. Fans were disappointed as they missed a highly anticipated showdown between the former national title challenger and Olowu, a two-time West African welterweight champion.

Now, over a year later, both fighters will finally get the chance to face each other in the ring.

The fight is expected to showcase Ani’s aggressive fighting style against Olowu’s experience. Olowu has built a strong reputation with his successes at the regional level.

The event will also have former American heavyweight champion Ray Mercer as a special guest. Mercer won Olympic gold in heavyweight boxing at the 1988 Seoul Games and later became the WBO heavyweight champion in his professional career.

Match Makers Sports International said this main event will be part of a larger fight card. Details about the undercard will be shared later.

Mike Adeyemo, the promoter and CEO of Match Makers Sports International, said fans have been eager for the Ani-Olowu match. “This is the fight the fans have been waiting for, and the tension has reached a boiling point,” Mr. Adeyemo said.

He also mentioned that more information about the undercard will come out as they prepare for the event.

The second edition of Street Rumble is being set up as a grassroots boxing event. Ajegunle is an ideal location for this December contest.

For Ani, this fight is a chance to make a comeback after his injury that stopped his last meeting with Olowu. For Olowu, it’s an opportunity to strengthen his regional reputation against a former national title challenger.

With the date and venue confirmed, focus will now shift to finalizing the fight card and preparing for what is expected to be an exciting boxing event in Nigeria.
