Michael "Hitman" Ani will fight two-time West African welterweight champion Taiwo "Gentle Boy" Olowu in the main event of The Street Rumble Season 2. This match will take place at Maracana Square in Ajegunle, Lagos, on Sunday, December 13, 2026.
Match Makers Sports International has confirmed the fight. They call it a long-overdue meeting between the two boxers. There is already a lot of excitement in Ajegunle as the match approaches.
Ani and Olowu were supposed to fight on April 20, 2025. The boxing community was looking forward to a clash that was all about pride and different fighting styles. Unfortunately, that fight did not happen. A week before the match, Ani got an arm injury during training.
This injury forced Ani to pull out of the fight. Fans were disappointed, and Ani had to go through a long rehabilitation. Now, more than a year later, it is time to settle the unfinished business between them.
Promoter Mike Adeyemo and Match Makers Sports International are bringing the fight to Ajegunle. They are calling it a classic civil war. Ani's desire for redemption will go against Olowu's strong background as a two-time West African champion.
The event will also have some international excitement. Ray Mercer, who won the Olympic gold medal in 1988 and was a former World Boxing Organisation heavyweight champion, will come from the United States. He will be a special guest at ringside to see a new wave of African fighters.
The fight will be outdoors, and the energy from Ajegunle's local fans is expected to make the atmosphere even better.
"This is the fight the fans have been waiting for. The tension is boiling over," said Adeyemo, who is the CEO of Match Makers Sports International.
Adeyemo promised that this main event is just the start of a big night of fights. He said more information about a packed undercard and other details will come soon.
