Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury Set for Big Fight in Cardiff

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will finally face off in Cardiff on December 11. This matchup brings together two of Britain's biggest heavyweight stars after years of trying to make it happen.

The fight will take place at the Principality Stadium. It is expected to be the richest fight in British boxing history.

Joshua and Fury were supposed to meet in 2021 when they both held major heavyweight titles. But the planned two-fight series fell apart because Fury had to fulfill his contract for a trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder.

After that, both fighters went their separate ways. They each faced Oleksandr Usyk, who beat both Fury and Joshua twice.

Now, six years after they first agreed to fight, these British rivals are ready to settle their long-standing rivalry in Cardiff.

The Sun reported on Friday that the fight is expected to bring in a £150m ($198m) prize pot. Both boxers will not have any A-side advantage in how they split the purse.

This means Joshua is expected to take home £75m ($99m), and Fury will get the same amount. This payday would be much higher than what they earned in previous fights.

SunSport mentioned that both fighters had earned about £65m ($85m) for a single fight before. Their potential £75m earnings from this December fight will be about £10m more than that.

Joshua could have made even more if the fight had taken place in the United States. Madison Square Garden in New York was also considered for the event.

But the former two-time unified heavyweight champion insisted that the fight should happen in Britain. He told SunSport, "British boxing gave me everything, it changed my life."

He added, "I was going down the wrong path until I found Sean Murphy and Johnny Oliver at Finchley ABC."

Joshua continued, "And then Team GB in Sheffield, and all the amazing coaches that worked every day for the love of the sport. Not the money, because there was no money."

He concluded, "It was the UK or nothing."

The fight in December might be the last for either boxer, as both are now in the later stages of their careers. This contest will be held without a rematch clause.
