Aptech Nigeria Celebrates First National Convocation

Aptech Nigeria made a big mark by holding its first-ever National Convocation on 8 August 2026 at Sheraton Lagos.

The event saw over 130 graduates, more than 400 parents, family members, guests, Aptech partners, faculty, industry representatives, and stakeholders from all over Nigeria. This was one of the biggest national celebrations for the organization so far.

With the theme "One Milestone. Many Futures.", the convocation celebrated more than just finishing school. It recognized the complete learning journey. This included classroom lessons, projects, exams, and the skills and confidence needed for the next steps in their careers.

A National Stage for Nigeria’s Future Talent

For the graduates, stepping onto the stage marked years of hard work and learning. For parents and families, it was a proud moment. They got to see the formal recognition of the dedication and support that helped each student succeed.

The celebration also showed how strong Aptech is in Nigeria. Partners from over 70 centres across the country came together for the event. This highlighted the organization's reach and its role in technology and vocational education.

40 Years of Shaping Futures Globally

The convocation took place during an important year for Aptech, as the organization is celebrating 40 years since it started. For over four decades, Aptech has built a strong reputation in career-focused technology and creative education. The organization has helped learners gain industry-relevant skills, build confidence, and find new academic and job opportunities.

The first National Convocation in Nigeria brought this legacy to life. It celebrated a new generation of graduates ready to join a digital and innovation-driven economy. Aptech's long-standing presence in Nigeria and its network of over 70 centres show its commitment to providing practical, career-oriented skills training across the country.

₦60 Million in International Scholarships

A key highlight of the evening was the announcement of international scholarship opportunities for outstanding students. Four students were chosen to receive 50% scholarships for eligible programs at Middlesex University, UK. Each scholarship is worth around ₦15 million.

The total value of the scholarships was about ₦60 million. This announcement emphasized a central message of the event: graduation is not just about finishing a program but also about opening doors to new academic and international opportunities.

Kate Henshaw Inspires the Graduating Class

The ceremony featured popular Nigerian actress and philanthropist Kate Henshaw as the Special Guest of Honour. She received the Social Impact Innovative Award at the NexVision Global Awards, an initiative by Aptech. In her speech to the graduates, Henshaw talked about the importance of skills, personal growth, and the duty to make a meaningful impact. "Aptech has invested in lives. There’s a whole world out there waiting for the skills that all of these students have acquired."

Her words connected well with the spirit of the convocation. Education and skills are most valuable when they help individuals create value, contribute positively, and keep developing.

“Graduation Is the Beginning”

In his speech to the graduates, Dr. Kallol Mukherjee, EVP & Head, International Business at Aptech, encouraged students to view the ceremony as the start of a larger professional journey. "Graduation is not the end, but the beginning of new opportunities. Keep learning, believe in your potential and use your skills to create value and make an impact."

His message highlighted Aptech’s focus on lifelong learning, flexibility, and giving students the confidence to stay relevant in a fast-changing world.

The event also had a strong Nigerian flavor. Colorful cultural performances added energy to the evening, celebrating the country’s rich heritage. The defining image was simple: graduates surrounded by proud parents, faculty, and friends, celebrating their achievements and looking forward to the future.
