The Nigerian Army, with help from the Office of the National Security Adviser Tactical Team, has shut down a Boko Haram/ISWAP camp in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
The operation took place early Wednesday morning after the army received reliable information about the terrorists' activities in the region.
Troops from Operation Hadin Kai engaged the terrorists in two separate fights, reportedly killing more than 21 of them, while some others fled with gunshot wounds.
On Thursday, the military posted on X that the troops also destroyed the terrorists' supply points and seized several AK-47 rifles, magazines, and a large amount of 7.62mm ammunition.
They also destroyed motorcycles, bicycles, and jerrycans filled with Premium Motor Spirit.
Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North East), said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to rescue victims taken from the Mussa community and the Lassa area.
"The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, is determined to keep up aggressive, intelligence-led operations to find and rescue abducted people, break apart terrorist strongholds, and weaken their logistics and fighting power," Goni said.
He mentioned that search and rescue efforts will continue until all kidnapped persons are found and brought back home.
The military leadership praised the troops and the ONSA Tactical Team for their bravery, professionalism, and teamwork, saying the operation showed the forces' ability to carry out combat actions in tough areas and stop terrorists from operating freely.
