The Accelerated Senior Secondary Education Programme (ASSEP) just wrapped up a two-day meeting in Adamawa State. The goal was to strengthen secondary education and improve learning outcomes in the state.

The meeting, with the theme "From Engagement to Impact," brought together government officials, teachers, education stakeholders, and development partners. They discussed ways to enhance education quality and equip students with skills for the future.

At the event, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Garba, praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his strong support of education. He said the governor’s investments and reforms are already making a positive difference in the education system.

Dr. Garba also thanked ASSEP for choosing Adamawa State as one of the areas to benefit from the program. He pointed out that this initiative will give students important skills needed for academic success and future jobs.

He encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities the program offers. He emphasized the importance of digital literacy to stay competitive in a world that relies more on technology.

Mr. Birsan Penuel, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Management Board, also spoke. He called the initiative a timely move that will greatly help in developing education, promoting peace, and advancing social progress.

Earlier, Dr. Batulu Isa Muhammad thanked all stakeholders for their support and dedication to the program. She explained that ASSEP aims not only to boost academic performance but also to help young people reduce vulnerability by promoting entrepreneurship and encouraging self-reliance among students, school dropouts, and graduates in the North-East.

She mentioned that the program is a strategic effort to strengthen academic support and build the skills of both teachers and students in the region.

ASSEP is an initiative of the North East Development Commission (NEDC). Its aim is to improve educational outcomes, raise teacher quality, and provide innovative virtual reality learning opportunities for students in underserved communities across Nigeria.
