Taiwo Awoniyi is feeling positive about his future at Nottingham Forest as he enters the last year of his contract. He appreciates the support he has received since joining the club, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Awoniyi starts the final 12 months of his deal this month. The Nigerian striker is hopeful for what lies ahead.

He joined Nottingham Forest in June 2022 for a record fee from Union Berlin. Since then, he has made over 100 appearances and scored 23 goals for the team across all competitions.

Even with this achievement, the 28-year-old has had to deal with injuries that affected his performance at key moments in the season.

As talks about his future continue, Awoniyi called his time in England a dream. He wants to show Forest that they made the right choice by bringing him in.

"Four years in the Premier League has been a dream for the club and me," Awoniyi told SportsBoom.co.za.

"The club has shown faith in me when I was down, so we will see what happens next."

He added, "My family and I are settled here in Nottingham, a great city. Next season, we will be better."

Despite his injury challenges, Awoniyi remains a key player for the squad. He is optimistic about making a bigger impact next season.

He also spoke about Forest's last season, highlighting the teamwork among players and coaches.

"At the end, it was an amazing season for us," the Nigerian said.

"Looking at how far we went and how we went about the season."

"Many people thought we might struggle, but we turned the negativity around. It was a good season for the club, the players, and everyone."

Awoniyi is set to return for pre-season training with Forest later this summer. He aims to build on his previous contributions and help the club reach its goals for the 2026/27 season.
