Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, known as AY Comedian, has said sorry to fans after his comedy show in Cardiff, UK was disrupted. He blamed unresolved payment issues for not being able to perform as promised.
The show was part of his "AY Live: Single and Not Searching" UK tour. It was set for Sunday, October 25, at Valegate Retail Park in Cardiff, Wales.
In a statement on Instagram on Monday, AY explained that he and the other comedians made it to the venue but could not perform because most of the audience had already left.
"My fellow comedians and I travelled to Cardiff to perform and eventually entered the venue. Unfortunately, unresolved payment commitments delayed our appearance, and by the time we arrived at the hall, most of the audience had left," he said.
AY apologised to those who attended, saying they deserved better planning and timely updates about the show.
"You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute," he stated.
He encouraged fans to watch a video where he explained what happened before jumping to conclusions.
AY also asked the event organisers and UK tour management to sort out the situation for ticket holders, including details about refunds.
"I am calling on the organisers and our UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for ticket holders, including refund information," he said. He promised to share verified updates through his official platforms.
The disruption led to complaints from attendees on social media, with many reporting long waits and confusion at the venue.
As of Monday, the organisers had not publicly explained what went wrong or announced any plans for refunds, leaving those affected waiting for more information.
Despite the setback, AY confirmed that the rest of his UK tour dates are still on. The next shows are scheduled for Birmingham on October 30, London on October 31, and Manchester on November 1.
AY also thanked his supporters for helping him build his brand over the years. He said he is committed to keeping their trust.
