Barcelona has signed Danish defender Andreas Christensen to a new contract that runs until June 2028. The club announced this on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old centre-back's last contract was set to end in June. He has struggled with injuries since joining Camp Nou.
Reports from Spain say he took a big pay cut to remain with Barcelona.
"FC Barcelona and Andreas Christensen have reached an agreement for the extension of the Danish defender’s contract, keeping him at the club until 30 June 2028," Barcelona stated.
Christensen played an important role in Barcelona’s La Liga win during his first season in 2022 after moving from Chelsea.
So far, he has made 98 appearances for Barcelona. He has won three La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey among other trophies.
