The Bauchi State Police have arrested two suspects for thuggery and public disturbances in different incidents in Bauchi city.
The police said the arrests came as part of their efforts to fight Sara-Suka thuggery and other violent crimes in the state.
In a statement on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said a group of suspected Sara-Suka youths attacked the Wayan Makafi and Unguwan Kur areas of Bauchi around 9:15pm on October 11, 2026, causing fear among the people.
Habib mentioned that a patrol team from the D Division, Dutsen Tanshi, along with members of the Yan Committee, quickly responded to the situation.
"Upon receiving the report, a patrol team from ‘D’ Division, Dutsen Tanshi, together with members of the Yan Committee, quickly moved to the affected areas.
"As a result, the troublemakers were successfully dispersed, preventing further breakdown of law and order," the statement said.
The police spokesperson also shared that a member of the Yan Committee got injured while trying to restore order and protect his community.
He said the injured member was getting medical care and was in stable condition. One suspect was arrested at the scene while others ran away.
The police are still trying to catch the suspects who escaped, according to the statement.

In another case, the police arrested a 25-year-old suspected leader of the Sara-Suka gang, Abubakar Adamu Aliyu, known as Zadous. He was arrested for allegedly trying to attack a Peace Corps member in the Kofar Dumi area of Bauchi.
Habib said the police got information around 6:30pm on October 11 that suspected thugs, reportedly armed with dangerous weapons, had invaded the home of the Peace Corps member with plans to attack him.
"Acting quickly on the reliable information, police officers from ‘A’ Division, Township, rushed to the scene and arrested one Abubakar Adamu Aliyu, alias Zadous, a 25-year-old notorious Sara-Suka leader," the statement said.
The police noted that this suspect had been to court for thuggery charges by the same division and had just been released the previous week.
They also claimed that the suspect was seeking revenge against the Peace Corps member for reporting his activities to the police about seven months ago.
Habib said the suspect is still in custody while investigations continue. He will face charges in court once the investigation wraps up.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the officers for their quick response and their teamwork with local security groups.
He warned that the police will not accept any form of thuggery, public disturbances, or Sara-Suka activities.
The commissioner also instructed that patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-led operations be maintained to ensure peace and security in the state.
He urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to warn their children against crime and work with the police by giving timely information to help stop crime.
