The Bauchi State Police has caught two suspects linked to robbery cases in Bauchi and Gamawa Local Government Areas.

The police also recovered one stolen mobile phone. They are still working to catch another suspect who escaped and to find the second phone.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, shared this in a statement on Saturday.

Habib mentioned that the first robbery happened on October 30. A 23-year-old woman from Sabon Kaura reported that an 18-year-old suspect, Mustapha Mohammed, broke into her room around 3:10 am. He came in with a knife and a torchlight.

The suspect hurt the woman's left hand and stole her Itel A80 phone, worth N120,000. The police later tracked him down and arrested him.

"During questioning, he admitted to the robbery and said he sold the stolen phone to someone named Dan-Oga. The real identity of this person is still unknown and he is on the run," the statement said.

"We are working hard to recover the phone and catch the person who received it," the statement added.

The case has now been sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation.

In another case, police arrested a 20-year-old herder, Jingi Buba, for allegedly robbing a 15-year-old girl in Kesa Village, Gamawa Local Government Area.

The robbery took place on October 29. The victim and her friend, both aged 15, went to their farm to collect grass.

While they were returning for the remaining grass, the suspect attacked one of the girls with a knife. He threatened her and stole her Tecno A31 phone, valued at N20,000.

"After we got the report, police tracked the suspect and arrested him. We also recovered the Tecno A31 phone as evidence from the Gamawa Division operatives," Habib said.

He pointed out that the initial investigation is finished. The case has been sent to the SCID in Bauchi for more investigation.

Police Commissioner, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned these robbery cases. He assured the public that the police are committed to keeping people safe and protecting their property.

The Commissioner also instructed all Divisional Police Officers to step up patrols. He wants to ensure that all escaping suspects are caught and brought to justice.
