Bayern Munich announced on Wednesday that they have signed Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven. The deal will keep him at the club until 2031.
The transfer fee is reported to be 50 million euros, which is about 57 million dollars.
Saibari is an attacking midfielder known for his goal-scoring ability. At 25 years old, he will boost Bayern's already strong attack, which includes stars like Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz, Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, and Serge Gnabry.
“As a child, you dream of signing a contract with a club like Bayern, everybody knows it’s one of the world’s biggest clubs,” Saibari said in a statement.
“Bayern compete for the biggest titles like the Champions League every year, and I want to win as many trophies as possible here.”
Saibari has been impressive at the World Cup, helping Morocco reach the last 16. He scored in each of Morocco’s three group matches and scored the final penalty in their win over the Netherlands in the last 32 on Monday.
Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl expressed excitement about the signing. He said the club is “delighted to have secured the services of Ismael Saibari, one of the most exciting players at the World Cup.”
Rumors about Saibari’s transfer had been swirling for weeks. Reports say he missed a training session in New Jersey earlier in the tournament to have a medical check-up for his move to Bayern.
Saibari was born in Spain but moved to Belgium when he was young. He chose to play for Morocco and made his international debut in 2023.
Bayern is aiming to improve even more after a successful 2025-26 season. The club won both the league and cup, setting a record for goals scored in a Bundesliga season. However, they fell just short in the Champions League.
Bayern was knocked out in the semi-finals by Paris Saint-Germain, losing 6-5 on aggregate.
