Venezia signs Akor Adams in record deal

Venezia, an Italian Serie A team, has signed Nigerian striker Akor Adams. He is now the most expensive player in the club’s history, according to reports from PUNCH Sports Extra.

TuttoMercatoWeb says the former Sevilla striker arrived in the city and went through the usual medical checks. After that, he signed a four-year contract worth €1.5 million per season.

Venezia will pay €17 million plus bonuses for the 25-year-old forward. This amount sets a new record for the club, which was recently promoted to Serie A.

Head coach Giovanni Stroppa is pleased with the signing. He mentioned that the next focus will be on strengthening the defense.

“I confirm, he’s an important profile who will give us a big hand,” Stroppa said.

“Numerically, we have some gaps defensively, we’ll try to think about that. I’m not good at naming names; certainly the sporting director, Antonelli, also holds the wallet, so we’ll see what he manages to do. I’m very satisfied with the club’s work.”

Akor Adams was born in Benue State. He started his European career in Norway with Sogndal before moving to Lillestrøm. His great performances led to a move to Montpellier in France, and then Sevilla signed him in January 2025.

He had a tough time adjusting to La Liga at first but became one of Sevilla’s key players last season. Adams helped the team fight against relegation and was their top scorer with 10 goals.

Many of his goals came during crucial matches, which helped Sevilla win important games and stay in the top division.

Now, Adams is expected to lead Venezia’s attack as the club works to strengthen its squad for the upcoming Serie A season. The goal is to keep their spot in the Italian top league.
