Akor Adams joins newly promoted Venezia FC in Italy

Italian club Venezia FC have signed Nigerian striker Akor Adams from Sevilla FC. The Super Eagles forward will play for the Serie A team until 30 June 2030.

Venezia confirmed the deal in an official statement. They called Adams' signing a big part of their long-term plans as they prepare for the new season.

Adams comes to Venice after playing in Norway, France, and Spain. He has a strong record of scoring goals and valuable experience in top leagues.

The 26-year-old started his football journey at the Jamba Academy. He made his professional debut with Sogndal IL in Norway in 2018. There, he played 56 games, scored 16 goals, and provided six assists.

His good performances led him to join Lillestrøm SK in Norway before the 2021/22 season. At Lillestrøm, he became known as a top striker. He scored 28 goals and made seven assists in 50 matches while also playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying rounds. He even scored twice in one game for the reserve team.

In the summer of 2023, Adams moved to Montpellier in France. He scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 49 matches. In January 2025, he signed with Sevilla FC in Spain.

During his time in Sevilla, Adams played 37 matches and scored 10 goals while also contributing four assists. Now, he has moved to Venezia.

On the international stage, Adams has played for Nigeria at youth and senior levels. He earned two caps for the Flying Eagles and has made 15 appearances for the Super Eagles, scoring six goals.

After finalizing his transfer, Adams said Venezia's ambitious plans attracted him to the club.

"I chose to come here because I see the extraordinary project Venezia is building, and I want to contribute to writing a new chapter in its history."

He also thanked the club's fans, saying their passion impressed him even before he arrived.

"I want to tell the fans that what they manage to create in such a special place is truly incredible. The energy and passion they convey are unique. I’ve seen so many videos of the matches, and I’ve been impressed by their constant support."

Adams believes Venezia deserves to be among the top clubs in Italy and wants to help the team establish itself in Serie A.

"I believe this team deserves to be in Serie A. It belongs in that league, also because of the affection and support the fans have always shown over the years. They are loyal, passionate, and never fail to support us. I’m proud to be a part of all this."

Adams is ready to start a new chapter in Italian football. Venezia hopes his goal-scoring ability will help them achieve their goals in the coming seasons after signing him on a five-year contract.
