Nigeria striker Akor Adams scored his first Serie A goal on Friday. He found the net for newly promoted Venezia in their match against Fiorentina, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Adams took just 22 minutes in his third league game to score his first goal in Italy's top league. He put Venezia ahead with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box.
The 26-year-old turned a great pass into the roof of the net before celebrating with joy. But his happiness did not last long. Franco Mastantuono scored two quick goals for Fiorentina before half-time.
This goal adds to Adams' impressive start in Italy. He also made an impact in the Coppa Italia three weeks ago. The Nigerian scored twice and assisted another goal as Venezia beat Modena 3-2 at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.
Adams scored once in each half and helped create the winning goal. Venezia came back from a 2-1 deficit to move to the last 16 of the cup.
The striker joined Venezia this summer after leaving Sevilla. He became the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Adams completed his medical check after arriving in the lagoon city. He then signed a four-year contract worth €1.5m per season.
Venezia reportedly paid €17m plus bonuses for the Nigerian player. This set a new transfer record for the club, now in Serie A.
