US-based Blessing Ogundinran has won the women’s 100 metres title at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games National Trials in Lagos. She finished the race in 11.12 seconds, making her Nigeria’s new national champion in this event, according to The PUNCH.
Ogundinran narrowly beat teenage star Miracle Ezechukwu, who set a new personal record of 11.15 seconds to take second place. Olajide Olayinka came in third with a time of 11.28 seconds.
After the race, Ogundinran shared that staying calm helped her secure the win. She had a tough journey to Lagos, which took almost four days due to issues in the US.
“When I was at the start block, I was thinking of what my coach told me, that I should just execute my race and not panic, and that was what I did. It was a tough time getting here after travelling for almost four days due to what happened in the US but I am grateful to God that I am going back with the title,” she said.
