President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Wednesday that Brazil should think about hiring Argentina's Lionel Messi. This was his response when asked about Brazil's performance in the World Cup so far.
Brazil, a five-time world champion, started the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Morocco. This match showed some weaknesses in their game.
In contrast, Argentina, Brazil's biggest football rival, had a better start. Messi scored three goals against Algeria on Tuesday.
Lula joked, "I was thinking about signing Messi to play for Brazil," while laughing. This was his reaction when journalists asked about the team's World Cup performance.
He added that the draw with Morocco was not a "big deal" for Brazil. Lula believes Morocco is the strongest team in their group.
He mentioned, "They say that whenever Brazil is heavily doubted, they win the World Cup... letβs see."
