American actor and advocate for disability rights RJ Mitte, famous for his role as Walter White Jr. in the TV show Breaking Bad, has died at the age of 34.
Mitte died on Monday, October 12, 2026, in Brownsville, Texas. This was confirmed by several US entertainment news sources, including Page Six and The Sun.
Page Six mentioned that a county official verified his passing.
In a statement shared with US entertainment outlets, Mitte’s representatives expressed their sorrow over his death.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” the statement said.
The representatives also asked for privacy for the family during this difficult time.
There have been reports about how Mitte died in US media, but the exact cause of death is still unclear based on the information available.
Born Roy Frank Mitte III in Jackson, Mississippi, Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was three years old.
He moved to Hollywood as a teenager and took on smaller roles before becoming well-known as Walter “Flynn” White Jr. in Breaking Bad, which ran from 2008 to 2013.
Like his character, Mitte had cerebral palsy. He changed his speech and used forearm crutches to show a more noticeable version of the condition in the show. He was in 56 episodes of the award-winning drama.
Outside of Breaking Bad, Mitte appeared in other works like the Netflix series The Guardians of Justice and movies such as The Oak Room and The Recall.
He also pushed for better representation of people with disabilities in the entertainment world. He worked with groups like United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s and was the president of The Mitte Foundation.
Mitte got engaged to his long-time partner, Kennedy Suarez, in 2025. TMZ reported this engagement in October of that year.
