Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hürzeler is happy about the arrival of Nigerian talent Zadok Yohanna at the club, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The Premier League club signed the talented teenager from AIK on Saturday. They beat competition from Chelsea and Newcastle to secure his signature.
Yohanna's move marks a quick rise for the young player. He left Ikon Allah Football Academy in Kaduna for Sweden just over a year ago. This year, he has impressed many with nine goal contributions in 12 matches for AIK.
Hürzeler shared his thoughts on the new player. He mentioned the qualities that made Brighton want to sign the teenager. "I’m looking forward to working with Zadok," the German said to BBC Sport.
"Having seen his games and his attributes, he is a player who can impact games in the final third." The Brighton coach also asked for patience as the young player settles in.
"He’s still young and will need time to adapt to the club and the Premier League, but he’s an exciting player to watch, and he brings the kind of creativity we know our fans will enjoy."
Yohanna is expected to join his new teammates during pre-season next month. He aims to impress Hürzeler and be part of the team for the upcoming season.
After the transfer was completed, the Nigerian shared that he talked with Hürzeler. The coach advised him to stay focused as he starts his journey in England.
"He urged me to keep fighting and working hard. I will give everything I have, and I really want to win trophies with the team," the 18-year-old said on the club’s website.
The young star is Brighton’s first signing of the summer. The Seagulls are getting ready for the 2026/27 season, where they will also play in the UEFA Conference League.
