Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly close to signing talented winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK Fotboll this summer. This news comes just days after the Swedish club announced they started talks about his possible sale, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The Seagulls are getting ready for a return to Europe after finishing eighth in the Premier League for the 2025/26 season, which earned them a spot in the UEFA Conference League.
Fabian Hürzeler’s team is expected to look for new players this summer. Adam Webster is leaving when his contract ends, and James Milner has announced his retirement.
Brighton also needs to add at least one new winger since club legend Solly March has left. The 18-year-old Yohanna has quickly become a top target for them.
PUNCH Sports Extra reported that AIK confirmed they are talking with an unnamed club about selling Yohanna. This deal could bring in around £20m, which would set a new record for the club's transfer fees.
If the sale goes through, Yohanna could become the most expensive player ever sold by a Swedish club. The current record is held by Lucas Bergvall, who moved from Djurgårdens IF to Tottenham Hotspur for €20m (£17.3m) in 2024.
Sky Sports News says Brighton is the club in serious talks with AIK about Yohanna and they are hopeful that a deal can be finalized this week.
Yohanna has drawn a lot of attention from other Premier League clubs, as well as teams in Spain and Germany.
If everything works out, Yohanna could become the sixth Nigerian footballer to play for Brighton. Other Nigerians who played for the club include Leon Balogun, Chuba Akpom, Ade Akinbiyi, Emeka Ifejiagwa, and David Adekola.
Since joining AIK last year, Yohanna has made a strong impact on the first team. He has scored five goals and provided four assists in 18 matches across all competitions, mainly playing from the right wing.
