Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK Stockholm. The deal is for five years, keeping him at Brighton until June 2031.

The club did not share the transfer fee. Brighton said the move will be official when the transfer window opens, pending the usual approvals.

Yohanna, who will turn 19 this month, caught the attention of many clubs because of his great performances in Sweden's top league.

Sky Sports reported that Newcastle United also wanted the young player, but Brighton managed to secure his signing.

Brighton sees him as one of the most exciting young players in European football after his impressive season with AIK. Head coach Fabian Hürzeler shared his excitement about the new signing, praising the winger’s skills.

"I’m looking forward to working with Zadok. Having seen his games and his attributes, he is a player that can impact games in the final third," Hürzeler said.

Yohanna's move is another big step in his quick rise since joining AIK. He quickly became a key player on the team.

Just weeks ago, he received his first call-up to Nigeria’s senior national team for the Unity Cup in London. But AIK did not let him go, citing concerns about his recovery and his role in the team's goals.

The Swedish club said Yohanna was finishing his recovery program and needed to stay in Sweden instead of joining the Super Eagles camp.

This decision was a blow for Nigeria coach Éric Chelle, who wanted to see the young player as he worked to strengthen the Super Eagles’ attack for upcoming competitions.

Yohanna’s transfer to Brighton now gives him a chance to grow in one of the toughest leagues in the world. His signing also adds another Nigerian player to the list of talents shining in the English Premier League.
