Newcastle United has reportedly made a €24m bid for rising Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna. This comes even though AIK has already reached a verbal agreement with Premier League team Brighton & Hove Albion, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Brighton has been in serious talks to sign the talented AIK Fotboll winger. They made a €24m offer just days after the Swedish club said they had started negotiations for his sale.

The Seagulls are getting ready to compete in Europe next season. They finished eighth in the Premier League for the 2025/26 season, earning them a spot in the UEFA Conference League.

Fabian Hürzeler’s team is looking to strengthen their squad this summer. Adam Webster is leaving as his contract ends, and James Milner has announced his retirement.

While Brighton continues talks, reports from Sweden say Newcastle is also in the race to outbid their Premier League rivals.

"Newcastle have entered the race for Zadok Yohanna. The interest is real. But Yohanna and Brighton have an agreement, as confirmed again," Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg shared on X.

"Brighton are still negotiating directly with AIK. They are not giving up, even with Newcastle and other clubs interested. A decision is expected soon."

Swedish news outlet Expressen also mentioned that Newcastle's offer includes bonuses related to Yohanna's performance.

"Expressen understands that talks are ongoing between the clubs. Sources confirm that Brighton is still in the mix and is working hard to sign Yohanna, facing competition from Newcastle. French club Rennes is also interested, along with another Premier League team," they reported.

With such a large bid, Yohanna could become the most expensive player sold in Allsvenskan history. This would happen just over a year after he joined AIK from Nigeria.

Yohanna has made a significant impact in AIK’s first team since arriving last year. He has scored five goals and provided four assists in 18 matches across all competitions, mainly playing on the right wing.
