Newcastle United has reportedly made a €24m offer for rising Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna. This comes even though AIK has already made a verbal deal with Premier League team Brighton & Hove Albion, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Brighton has been in serious talks to sign the talented AIK Fotboll winger. They made their own €24m offer just days after the Swedish club announced that it was starting to negotiate his sale.
The Seagulls are getting ready for European football after finishing the 2025/26 season in eighth place in the Premier League. They will play in the UEFA Conference League.
Fabian Hürzeler’s team is looking to add new players this summer. Adam Webster is leaving when his contract ends, and James Milner has announced his retirement.
While Brighton continues talks, reports from Sweden say Newcastle is now also in the running to outbid their Premier League rivals.
“Newcastle have entered the race for Zadok Yohanna. The interest is concrete. However, Yohanna and Brighton have an agreement in place, as revealed and now 100 per cent confirmed again,” said Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg on X.
“Brighton are still in direct negotiations with AIK. Brighton are not giving up despite Newcastle and other clubs. A decision is expected soon.”
Swedish news outlet Expressen also reported that Newcastle’s offer includes bonuses based on Yohanna’s performance.
“Expressen understands that negotiations are ongoing between the clubs. Sources also confirm that Brighton are still in the picture and are pushing hard to sign Yohanna in competition with Newcastle. French club Rennes is also interested, as Expressen reported before, along with another club in the Premier League.”
Given the size of the bid, Yohanna could become the most expensive sale in Allsvenskan history. This would happen just over a year after he joined AIK from Nigeria.
Yohanna has made a significant impact in AIK’s first team since arriving last year. He has scored five goals and provided four assists in 18 matches across all competitions, mainly playing on the right wing.
