Daniel Bwala, who is President Bola Tinubu's Special Adviser on Policy Communication, has announced that he is suing Al Jazeera in the UK. He claims the broadcaster edited his interview on the show 'Head to Head' hosted by Mehdi Hasan in a selective way.

In an interview on The Morayo Show, which aired on MAP Studios on Thursday, Mr Bwala explained that he asked his lawyers in England to start legal action after Al Jazeera refused to publicly apologize. They had previously apologized to him privately.

Mr Bwala said only 49 minutes of his 90-minute interview was shown. He believes this editing misrepresented him and harmed his reputation.

"They apologized to me privately. I said they should put it on social media. They said they will not. So I instructed my lawyers in England to go to court. The case is currently in court. My advisers in England said it’s a defamation of character," he stated.

The interview aired in March and got a lot of attention. During the show, Mr Hasan challenged Mr Bwala with several statements he made while he was the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign. Mr Bwala insists that the editing of the program was unfair and did not represent his views accurately.
