CAF Cancels Edo Queens Win in WAFU-B Final

The Confederation of African Football has made a big decision. They have canceled Edo Queens' victory over Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifying final. This came after the Ghanaian team protested.

Ampem Darkoa said it was wrong to go straight to penalties after the match ended 2-2 in Ouagadougou on September 5. They argued that they should have played 30 minutes of extra time based on the CAF WAFU-B Rules.

Edo Queens had won 4-1 in the penalty shootout. This victory gave them the title and a spot in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.

CAF found that the final did not follow the competition rules because no extra time was played. Article 72.4 says there should be two 15-minute periods of extra time if the score is tied after 90 minutes. Penalties should only happen if the score is still tied after the extra time.

Now, Edo Queens' shootout win is no longer valid. The final will continue from the 2-2 scoreline.

Both teams will play two 15-minute extra time periods. If they are still tied after those 30 minutes, then penalties will determine the winner.

The winner will take the qualification spot for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
