Chadian referee, Alhadji Allaou Mahamat, will officiate the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Matchday One game between Nigeria's Super Eagles and Madagascar’s Barea, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The match takes place on Friday, September 25, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Both teams want to start their qualification journey with a win.
Nigeria aims to use their home advantage, while Madagascar hopes to get a good result away from home.
At 40 years old, Mahamat is seen as one of the top referees in Africa. He has officiated many CAF competitions, like the CAF Champions League, the CAF Confederation Cup, the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, and the African Nations Championship.
Mahamat has also refereed two matches involving the Super Eagles during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He was the referee for Nigeria’s home game against Rwanda’s Wasps and also the away match against Lesotho in South Africa.
Nigeria won both games, securing a 1-0 victory at home and a 2-1 win away.
For the match in Uyo on Friday, he will have his officiating team assisting him.
