Lifestyle influencer and dance lover, Ntumobe Chisom, known as Cheesohm, said her dance project, Dance with Cheesohm, was set up to create a safe and welcoming place for people to express themselves and enjoy Afrobeats culture.
Cheesohm shared this ahead of the next dance event happening today, June 27, 2026, at Alpha Fitness Studio in Lekki, Lagos.
The content creator explained that the project aims to break down the barriers that often stop people from joining dance activities. This is especially true for those who worry about being judged based on their dance skills.
She said, "Dance with Cheesohm is a safe space. Everyone who steps into the room is automatically a dancer. The space doesn’t judge, it doesn’t limit you, it allows you to be yourself."
Cheesohm added that the long-term goal of the project is to help people express themselves and build confidence while making dance easier for those who might be shy about joining classes.
"Most people love to dance, but because they feel they are not good enough or are afraid of being judged by more experienced dancers, they stay away from dance classes. Dance with Cheesohm is meant to bridge that gap," she explained.
She also highlighted the need to appreciate the work of dancers in the creative industry. Many performers often feel unappreciated, even though they play a big part in shaping popular culture.
Cheesohm mentioned that the initiative aims to give dancers and fans a chance to enjoy movement again without the stress of performance.
