Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was taken to the hospital for tests after he collided with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. This happened during their Premier League match on Saturday.

Martinez came off his line to meet a cross into the penalty area. He collided with Branthwaite in the second half at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool.

Medical staff from both teams rushed to help the players. Branthwaite passed a concussion test and continued playing. Martinez, on the other hand, needed about 10 minutes of treatment before he was carried off on a stretcher.

According to the Associated Press, Chelsea goalkeeper was taken to the hospital. He was replaced by Mike Penders, who made his Premier League debut for Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso spoke about Martinez’s condition in an interview after the match. He shared this with TNT Sports, as reported by The Guardian.

"As far as I know he left the stadium conscious. Right now he is at the hospital doing precautionary tests. So let’s see. But this is what I know so far," Alonso said.

Some Everton supporters booed as Martinez was carried off, according to The Guardian’s live coverage of the match.

Chelsea won the game 2-0. Pedro Neto scored in the 46th and 90th minutes. This result moved Chelsea above Everton in the Premier League table at the time of the match report.
