AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze plans to stay at the club and fight for his spot under the new manager Ruben Amorim, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Chukwueze was in talks for a transfer to Trabzonspor, but he did not want to make the move. Milan also turned down a €15m offer from the Turkish side.

He has returned to Milan after a loan at Fulham, where the Premier League team chose not to activate the €26m purchase option in the deal.

While at Fulham, Chukwueze scored three goals and got four assists in 23 league games. He built a strong partnership with fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.

Although he wanted to stay in England, Fulham decided not to keep him. This means the 26-year-old is back at Milan, where he has two years left on his five-year contract. He signed this deal after moving from Villarreal in 2023 for €20m.

Sempre Milan reports that Trabzonspor still wants to sign the Super Eagles winger even after their first bid was turned down.

"Despite this stalemate, the Turkish club continue to push for Chukwueze, considering him one of their primary objectives for the season," the report said.

"Amorim must decide whether he sees a use for him next season. The Portuguese coach would like to test him on the pitch and evaluate him closely during the preseason camp in July, it seems."

Chukwueze wants to fight for his place, maybe in a role behind the striker. Before his loan, he had trouble becoming a regular starter at Milan even though he showed some of his talent.

While Amorim's plans for him are still unclear, a good pre-season could help revive his career at Milan. A move to another club could also give him a fresh start as Nigeria prepares for upcoming international matches.
