The Chartered Institute of Bankers and the Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) have urged banks to focus more on financial inclusion, empowering women, and ensuring steady growth. They want these efforts to close the financial gap and support small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
This call was made during a visit to the new President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Dr. Dele Alabi, Ph.D, FCIB. The visit aimed to congratulate him on his recent appointment and to strengthen ties between both organizations.
The meeting took place after Dr. Alabi’s investiture on Saturday, May 16, 2026. During this event, he shared his “IMPACT” Vision, which focuses on “Consolidating Our Local Impact, Enhancing Our Global Relevance.” This vision has six main points: inclusion across geography, gender, and generations; growth and quality of membership; professionalism and ethics; accountability; development of skills and competencies; and technology, automation, and innovation. He also highlighted women empowerment, financial inclusion, financial literacy, and MSME support as key priorities.
Dr. Alabi said that under his leadership, the institute will focus on financial inclusion and empowering women. He noted that women often manage finances and care for families. Access to savings, micro-credit, and insurance is crucial during tough times and can help improve living conditions significantly.
He mentioned that CIBN is ready to work together with CBN and ACAMB for knowledge sharing and exchange sessions. “Educating the public through awareness programs, with ACAMB leading the way, is central to our work,” he said.
