The City Boy Movement has praised the appointment of its leaders and members to the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.
The group said the appointments cover its Co-Patrons, Governing Board, National Working Committee, Deputy Directors-General, and grassroots leadership.
In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, on Saturday, the movement said these appointments show its members are well represented in the Council.
Ayodele Olawande, a co-patron of the movement, was appointed as the director of the council’s Directorate of Youth Mobilisation. The Director-General, Francis Shoga, will serve as Secretary II of the Directorate of Support Group Mobilisation.
The movement also mentioned that O’tega Ogra, its Deputy Director-General for Media, Communications, and Public Affairs, has been named to the Directorate of Media and Strategic Communications.
Other leaders and members from its national, zonal, state, and local government structures have also been appointed to various positions in the Council.
Shoga reacted to the news by calling the appointments a major step for the movement. He said it gives its members a chance to play a bigger role in the APC’s campaign work.
He stated, "These appointments are significant for the City Boy Movement and the many individuals who have committed their time, energy and resources to building and strengthening our structures across Nigeria.
“We appreciate the confidence reposed in our members and congratulate everyone entrusted with these responsibilities. The appointments reflect the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and contributions of individuals who have helped sustain the movement."
Shoga described the movement as a space for Tinubu’s supporters from different political and social backgrounds. He added, "We remain committed to working constructively with the APC, the Presidential Campaign Council, and other support groups towards our shared objectives."
Ogra also spoke on the matter. He said the appointments highlight the need for continuous grassroots involvement and the hard work of members who have built the movement’s presence across Nigeria.
He mentioned, "Behind the growth of the City Boy Movement are dedicated individuals who have invested their time, resources, and personal effort in building relationships, mobilising communities and strengthening our structures across the country. It is encouraging to see many of these individuals entrusted with responsibilities within the Presidential Campaign Council."
Ogra continued, "These appointments also come with responsibilities. As we take on our respective roles, our focus must remain on effective coordination, responsible communication, and constructive collaboration with the APC and other stakeholders. We are committed to bringing our organisational experience and grassroots networks to bear in the collective effort ahead."
The movement congratulated the leaders and members of the newly inaugurated council. It also expressed gratitude to Tinubu and the APC leadership for trusting its appointees.
The City Boy Movement reaffirmed its support for Tinubu and its dedication to the Renewed Hope agenda. It stated that it is ready to use its nationwide networks, grassroots experience, and organisational strength in the efforts leading up to the elections.
