David Alaba Talks About Joining Udinese

Former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich player David Alaba has shared why he decided to join Udinese after leaving Real Madrid.

The 34-year-old Austrian player signed with Udinese on a free transfer. He has agreed to stay with the Italian team until the end of the season.

Alaba, who has won the Champions League four times, said he wants to keep competing at a high level instead of just slowing down his career.

In a statement from the club on Thursday, Alaba was quoted saying, “I’ve had so many experiences and won so much throughout my career, but one thing hasn’t changed, I want to win again.” He made this statement after completing his move.

“I want to compete again. And I want to achieve something special once more. That is the mindset I’m bringing to Udinese,” he added.

Alaba had been without a club since he left Real Madrid at the end of last season. He has not played since leading Austria at the World Cup, where they lost to eventual champions Spain in the last 32.

Even with his successful career, which includes two Champions League titles with Bayern and two with Real Madrid, Alaba says he is still ambitious.

“I certainly haven’t come to wind down my career,” he said. “I’m still too ambitious for that, and I still strongly believe in what I can do on the pitch,” he explained.

Alaba also mentioned that he wants to make his mark in Serie A and help Udinese reach their goals.

“I want to keep pushing, perform at the highest level in Serie A week in and week out, and achieve something meaningful,” he said.

“I’m really excited about this challenge, and I still have a lot to prove to myself,” he noted.

Alaba brings a wealth of international and club experience to Udinese, a team that has earned four points from their first five Serie A matches.

He has played 117 times for Austria, scoring 15 goals. His arrival is a big boost for Udinese as they aim to do better than last season's 10th-place finish.
