Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, has spoken out against the attack on the chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government Area, Asimiyu Ajibola, also called Baba Isila.
Davido shared details on his X account on Thursday. He said the attack happened around 9:50 pm near the Osogbo Community Bank in the MDS area. Gunmen reportedly opened fire on a blue Toyota Corolla carrying Ajibola and his friends.
The shooting caused fear among local residents. Reports say Ajibola was injured and taken to a teaching hospital for treatment.
In response, Davido urged an end to political violence. He emphasized that differences in politics should not lead to insecurity or bloodshed.
His uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, is planning to run for re-election in the August 2026 governorship election. Davido called on politicians to resolve their issues through voting.
“Regardless of our political differences, everyone must make sure they are not contributing to insecurity in our nation,” he wrote.
“The attack on the Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government by political hoodlums must be condemned and rejected by all.
“If APC is sure they are popular, let’s settle this with ballot papers, not guns or weapons,” he added.
