Cyriel Dessers says "the best is yet to come" after scoring two goals to help Panathinaikos win 2-1 against Hradec Kralove. This win took them into the UEFA Conference League league phase, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The Super Eagles striker came on in the 60th minute. He scored the first goal in the 72nd minute and then converted a penalty in the 125th minute. This gave Panathinaikos a 4-3 aggregate victory.

"I’m glad I gave Panathinaikos something after a difficult year. The best is yet to come. I’m growing, and the team is growing too," Dessers said after the match.

The 31-year-old also shared his joy in helping Panathinaikos qualify at a time when the club is going through changes.

"I am very happy that my first goals gave us qualification. It is a special phase of the year, changes are made, new players are coming, there is pressure. Now that we have qualified, the pressure can be reduced, and we can play good football as a team," he mentioned.

Dessers' two goals came after Panathinaikos let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 in the first leg in Athens. Vladimir Darida’s equaliser in the 92nd minute of the return leg forced extra time.

This performance gives Dessers a much-needed boost as he tries to regain his form after dealing with injuries. He also aims to strengthen his chance to return to the Super Eagles.

The forward, who has made 11 appearances for Nigeria, hopes to build on this performance and keep up his form for Panathinaikos as the season goes on.
