Senator Seriake Dickson, the leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has appointed three new aides.

Sani Takori is now the Political Adviser. VinMartin Ilo takes on the role of Chief Technical Adviser. Veteran journalist Steve Nwosu is the new Spokesman.

Osa Director, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, announced these appointments in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

These new roles start immediately. They aim to boost the operations and communication for the former Bayelsa governor and the NDC.

Director mentioned that the three appointees “were selected based on their experience and professional records. Both Ilo and Nwosu come into the job with a track record of professionalism, credibility and integrity, while Hon Takori is a tested and trusted public administrator, with a hugely impressive political resumé.”

Takori, a lawyer, started his career in the old Sokoto State. He worked as a Registrar and Magistrate before becoming Solicitor-General. He also served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Zamfara State.

He studied at Ahmadu Bello University and the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies. Takori was a member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.

At 68 years old, he is from Gummi Local Government Area in Zamfara State. Takori has also been a Local Government Chairman, National Legal Adviser to the Council of Ulamas, and Chief Legal Officer of the Nigerian Electoral Commission.

Ilo has a strong background in broadcasting and public relations, with nearly 40 years of experience.

He was a Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Enugu State and also served on the Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission.

Nwosu is described as “a long-standing associate of Senator Dickson.” He is a media administrator and political communication strategist, skilled in print, broadcasting, and online media.

He graduated from the University of Nigeria and Lagos Business School. Nwosu has worked with The Guardian and ThisDay in several roles, including Features Editor and Political Editor.

He joined The Sun Newspapers at its beginning as the first Editor of Saturday Sun. He later became Editor of Daily Sun, Executive Director of Corporate Services, Deputy Managing Director, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief.

Nwosu also served for eight years on the Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, first as a member for the West Zone and later as Treasurer.

“The brief of the three appointees covers Dickson’s activities both as the NDC National Leader and as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic,” the statement noted.

These appointments come as the NDC and other political parties prepare their structures and communication plans for the 2027 general elections.
