Nigerian DJ Florence Otedola, known as DJ Cuppy, has shared that she wishes she could think like her father, billionaire Femi Otedola. She praised his skills in investing and creating wealth.
Cuppy shared her thoughts in a LinkedIn post on Monday. She mentioned that she always tries to learn from her father during his visits to London.
"Whenever Mr Femi Otedola comes to London, I MUST pick his brain! Why do I think understanding how my dad thinks is important? Tbh, I wish I had his brain. Genius!" she wrote.
She noted that watching her father grow his investment in First HoldCo Plc has shown her that business is not only about earning money but also about offering value to others.
"Watching him grow his investment in First HoldCo Plc has taught me that business isn’t just about making money, but creating value for others," she said.
Cuppy also mentioned the financial services group's new dividend policy. This policy plans for a minimum payout of 60 percent of its annual profit after tax to shareholders, pending regulatory approvals.
The company's board approved this policy in July 2026.
She praised her father's belief in the company, noting that he has put over $450 million of his own money into its shares.
"What fascinates me even more is his confidence. He’s invested over $450 million of his own money in shares.
"Now that’s putting your money where your mouth is!" she wrote.
Reflecting on what she has learned from her father, Cuppy said she values his mindset and business approach more as she grows older.
"The older I get, the more I realise that the REAL wealth is in the way he thinks. I’ll always be his student. Very happy to learn," she added.
