Doma United kept their winning streak going in the new Nigeria Premier Football League season with a 1-0 victory over Inter Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday. Rilwanu Sadiq scored in the second half, securing the win during Matchday Two.
The only goal came in the 71st minute when Sadiq found the net, giving the Savannah Tigers a lead they did not lose.
This win means Doma United has taken all points from their first two games since moving up to the top league. They began the season with a 2-0 win over Sporting Lagos last week.
On the other hand, Inter Lagos is still searching for their first point after two matches. They lost their first game 2-1 to Shooting Stars.
The loss adds to a tough stretch for the Lagos team, who have now lost three out of their last five competitive matches, dating back to last season. They had won nine of their previous ten home games.
Doma United's technical adviser, Ayodeji Ayeni, praised his team’s discipline and teamwork after their first win over Sporting Lagos. These qualities were once again visible in their match against Inter Lagos on Saturday.
This victory also ended a two-match losing streak for Doma United. They have now won three out of their last five competitive games.
Saturday's match was the first time these two clubs faced each other in the top flight. It was also Doma United’s second straight win against teams from Inter Lagos, having beaten them 1-0 in their last meeting.
