Doma United kept their winning streak alive in the new Nigeria Premier Football League season with a 2-0 victory against nine-time champions Enyimba at the Pantami Stadium on Saturday.
Sadiq Rilwanu scored the first goal in the 32nd minute. Yusuf Fantami then added a second goal in the 76th minute, ensuring a third straight win for the team that just got promoted.
With this win, the Savannah Tigers now have nine points from three matches. They have scored five goals and have not conceded any. Doma United made a statement in the league with a 2-0 win over Sporting Lagos in their first match. They followed it up with a narrow 1-0 win against Inter Lagos.
On the other hand, Enyimba has not earned any points yet this season. They started their campaign with a 2-1 loss to Niger Tornadoes.
Their Matchday Two game against Shooting Stars was postponed because Enyimba was busy with continental matches. This match against Doma United was their first game in nearly a month.
Enyimba tried hard to get back into the game before half-time, but they could not score. Doma United held their ground and led 1-0 at the break.
After the break, Enyimba continued to look for an equaliser. But it was Doma United that looked more dangerous. They secured the win thanks to Fantami’s goal in the second half.
Doma United will now focus on their next match, an away game against Kano Pillars.
