A youth group in Ebonyi State, called the Ebonyi Youth Coalition, has announced their backing for the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, Chikaodili Ojimba. He aims to represent the Ebonyi North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
The coalition shared their support in a statement on Wednesday. Eze Francis, the coordinator, praised Ojimba as a candidate with the experience and connections needed to represent the people of the district.
The group said they support Ojimba because of his track record as a businessman, philanthropist, and community advocate. They noted that his work in business and contributions to youth welfare have made him popular among the young people in Ebonyi North.
"We, the members of the Ebonyi Youth Coalition, numbering over 10,000, declare our support for High Chief Ojimba Chikaodili Fidelis Ojimba as our preferred candidate for the Ebonyi North senatorial seat in 2027," the statement read.
The youths believe the Senate seat should go to someone who can attract investment, create jobs, and lead programs that improve the lives of the people. They see Ojimba as a self-made businessman who started from humble beginnings in Onyikwa Nkaleke Echara Nduebor, Ebonyi Local Government Area.
The coalition highlighted Ojimba's charity work, which includes scholarships for students from his community, paying medical bills, empowering young entrepreneurs, and supporting students studying abroad. They said these efforts show his commitment to community service.
"Ojimba’s story is the story of many Ebonyi youths who refuse to be limited by circumstance," the statement added.
"He travelled to Port Harcourt after secondary school, worked hard, studied Linguistics and Communication at the University of Port Harcourt part-time, and built a legitimate business empire that employs people and boosts the local economy.
"That is the kind of leadership we need in the Senate. We will not accept any narrative that diminishes the value of hard work, integrity, and service."
The coalition mentioned that Ojimba’s peaceful nature, humility, and connection with communities have increased his popularity among young voters. They called on traditional leaders, political figures, and other stakeholders to support a fair democratic process that allows voters to choose their representatives freely.
The group believes the 2027 election is a chance for Ebonyi North to elect a senator with real experience in creating wealth, generating jobs, and developing human capital.
"Our support for Ojimba is total and non-negotiable. We urge every young person in the zone to stay alert, mobilize their families and communities, and ensure that the people's will prevails in 2027," the statement said.
"Leadership is about service, not entitlement. High Chief Ojimba Chikaodili Fidelis Ojimba has shown that he understands that principle, and we stand with him."
