Governor Dauda Lawal is set to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He aims to meet with global leaders, partners, and international organisations. The goal is to attract investment for Zamfara State.
The 81st session of the General Assembly carries the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”
Key discussions at the UNGA will cover the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate action, pandemic response, racial justice, and nuclear disarmament.
Governor Lawal wants to highlight Zamfara State’s development needs. He hopes to build partnerships and explore cooperation in security, economic growth, education, healthcare, and sustainable development.
His activities will kick off on 18 September. He will participate in a High-Level Executive Global Roundtable Side Event and the SDG Moment.
On 21 September, Governor Lawal will speak at a high-level side event during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. This event is organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The theme is “From Fragility to Opportunity: Locally Led Pathways to Peace, Resilience and Investment in Fragile Contexts.”
This event will also launch the Northwest Peace, Security and Development Framework (2026-2030). It aims to build strategic partnerships and investments to support its implementation.
Other important events on his agenda include the SDG Roundtable Discussion 2026, the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, the African-Caribbean High-Level Interactive Dialogue, and the Nigeria Investment Forum.
