Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has named 10 special advisers as he forms his cabinet for his second term in office.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode, said this came after the state House of Assembly approved the governor’s request to appoint 10 special advisers last week.
In a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Monday night, Oyebode also mentioned that the House had confirmed the appointment of three commissioners-designate sent by the governor.
He noted, “The swearing-in of the newly appointed special advisers, along with the commissioners-designate, will take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, by 2.00pm.”
“Governor Oyebanji has approved the appointment of 10 Special Advisers to help in running the state better and improving service delivery.”
“The list of the 10 special advisers includes two new appointees and eight others from the previous administration,” Oyebode added.
He listed the newly appointed special advisers as Prof. James Olaleye (e-GIS, Lands and Survey), Mr. James Folorunso (Bureau of Public Procurement), Dr. John Moyo Ekundayo (Office of Transformation, Strategy and Delivery), Mr. Bunmi Talabi (Bureau of Special Projects) and Mr. Olayinka Oyebode (Media).
The rest are Princess Adetoun Agboola (Special Education and Social Inclusion), Dr. Gbenga Oyewole (Development, Planning and Budget), Mr. Kayode Adaramodu (Economic Affairs and Private Sector Development), Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade (Agriculture and Food Security) and Prof. Akeem Azeez (Special Duties).
Oyebode also mentioned the commissioners-designate as Mr. Dayo Apata (SAN) (Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice), Mr. Akintunde Oyebode (Commissioner for Finance) and Dr. Oyebanji Filani (Commissioner for Health and Human Services).
Oyebanji was re-elected on June 20 during the Ekiti State governorship election and was sworn in on October 16 for a new four-year term.
On October 27, just 10 days after his swearing-in, he wrote to the state House of Assembly to seek approval for the reappointment of three commissioners who worked during his first term.
He also asked the Assembly to approve the appointment of 10 special advisers “to help with the daily management of the state.”
In the letter addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, the governor said, “The proposed appointments show my intention to put together key parts of my administration early and ensure continuity in important areas of governance.”
