England will look to secure their spot in the knockout rounds of the World Cup on Tuesday. They will face Ghana, while Portugal hopes to get their campaign back on track after a disappointing draw in their first match.

After Argentina and France advanced to the last 32, England knows a win against Ghana will guarantee their progression. England kicked off their tournament last week with a strong 4-2 victory over Croatia. This win has boosted the team's confidence as they aim for their first major championship in 60 years.

Captain Harry Kane scored twice in the match, and Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid also netted a goal. England midfielder Declan Rice believes that Thomas Tuchel's squad can compete with any team in the tournament.

Rice spoke on Monday about the need to replicate the exciting second-half performance they had against Croatia. "We know as players the level, we know what’s required, and that second-half performance was probably the benchmark for us in terms of having to start the game at that level," Rice said.

He added, "We believe that if we can do that from the opening minute, with the players that we also have to come on and finish the game, we can beat any opponent in the world. We want to be confident in our abilities and what we can do on the pitch."

England's manager, Tuchel, mentioned that his players are ready for the pressure that comes with the World Cup. "There are emotions involved and you can at some point feel the tension and feel the pressure. I hope we can cope with it, accept it and turn it around," Tuchel said.

He also acknowledged the excitement and pressure surrounding the tournament. "I feel that we have so many winners and so many players who are experienced to cope with the pressure."

England must also keep an eye on Ghana's Antoine Semenyo. The London-born winger for Manchester City is key to Ghana's attack. Ghana won their first match against Panama 1-0 and can also qualify for the knockout stages with a win against England in Foxborough, near Boston.

Meanwhile, Portugal seeks to recover from a rocky start when they face Uzbekistan in Houston. Portugal came into the World Cup as one of the favorites, with a squad full of talented players and led by veteran Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Ronaldo's lackluster performance in a 1-1 draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo has sparked discussions about his place in the team. Portugal's coach, Roberto Martinez, continues to back his 41-year-old captain, despite Ronaldo not scoring in his last 10 matches in major tournaments.

"He’s a good example for us, for all of us," Martinez said of Ronaldo. "So he really wants to keep on improving, to contribute to the team, and he’s really a role model for our team."

When asked about Ronaldo's starting position against Uzbekistan, Martinez did not give a clear answer. He mentioned he had not informed his players about the lineup yet. Martinez believes the team's disappointment from the DRC match will drive them against Uzbekistan, who are newcomers to the World Cup and will be seen as heavy underdogs.

"The feeling of frustration that we all had as a team, the feeling of disappointment after the game, probably that’s the best starting point to prepare for the next game," stated the Spaniard.
