The Police in Cross River State have arrested a 57-year-old farmer named Samuel Sunny Udoh. He is accused of killing two people in Odukpani Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed the arrest. He said the command got a report about a missing person on May 25. Regina Akan Patrick reported that her husband, Akan Patrick, had gone to his farm in Okong community and did not return.
Regina explained that her husband usually stays on the farm for about a week before coming home. But after several days, she could not reach him. This made her worried and led to the police report.
Eitokpah said police investigations led to the arrest of Samuel Sunny Udoh. During questioning, the suspect told police that in November 2025, two youths, Akan Patrick and Mr Imoh, confronted him at his farm. They demanded 14 bags of cannabis sativa he was growing.
Samuel claimed the two men came armed to threaten him. He said he reported the matter to community leaders, but they found his claims unconvincing. The leaders then ordered the release of the two men, who had been tied up during questioning.
The suspect added that while he was taking the men back home, a fight broke out. He said they tried to attack him, so he pushed both of them into a river, and they drowned. He admitted he did not tell the police about this incident. He also confessed to being involved in the illegal cultivation of cannabis sativa.
Eitokpah stated that the suspect will be taken to court once investigations are complete.
