Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has voted in the ongoing governorship election. He cast his vote at Polling Unit 1 in Afao-Ekiti, which is in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
After voting, Fayose spoke with reporters. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and believes that the current Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, will win the election.
“(Biodun) Oyebanji has already won the election,” Fayose said. He served as governor from 2003 to 2006 and again from 2014 to 2018 under the PDP.
Fayose pointed out that the political situation in Ekiti State and how residents are responding shows strong backing for Oyebanji. The governor is running for re-election under the APC banner.
“If you look at the state of things in the state and the body language of the people, I am predicting an overwhelming victory for him,” he added.
Wole Oluyede is the PDP candidate in this governorship election. Fayose, even as a prominent member of the PDP, has openly supported the APC’s Oyebanji for re-election, going against his party’s usual position.
