The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the identity of a female student found dead along the Lokoja-Abuja Highway. She was a final-year student at the Federal University Lokoja.

The victim, Sarah Idoko, was discovered on Saturday night near the Crusher area along the Felele axis of Lokoja. It is believed she was dumped there by unknown attackers.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a vehicle stop briefly in the area around 8 p.m. before it drove off quickly.

Later, passers-by found her body by the roadside and informed the police.

Initially, reports indicated that Sarah was a student at Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja. This confusion arose after an identity card with her name was found at the scene.

The card showed she was in the Higher National Diploma program in the Department of Office Technology Management for the 2024/2025 academic year.

But the police clarified that Sarah was indeed a student at the Federal University Lokoja.

Kogi State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Kankarofi, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are underway. They aim to find out how she died and catch those responsible.

“The command is working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and track down those responsible,” the police commissioner said.

He promised that the findings would be shared with the public at the right time. He also reassured the community about the police's commitment to seeking justice for Sarah.

In response to her death, the Association of Nigeria Female Students, Kogi State Chapter, condemned the killing. They called it cruel, unfortunate, and unacceptable.

In a statement from their State Coordinator, Celina James, the association expressed their sorrow and urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the case. They want the culprits to be brought to justice.

The group also called on relevant authorities to improve security around campuses and student areas to stop such incidents from happening again.

“The tragic death of Sarah Ojodomo has once again raised concerns about the safety and security of students and residents along the Felele corridor,” the association said. This area has seen several security issues in recent years.
