A fire broke out at the Old Garage area in Osogbo, Osun State. Emergency responders are working hard to put it out.
Videos shared online on Sunday showed firefighters trying to control the blaze. Thick smoke was seen rising from the affected area.
According to Inside Osogbo, the fire started in the Old Garage area. The report noted that two filling stations were nearby.
The platform told residents to keep away from the area. This would help emergency teams do their work without interruptions. They also called for more support for the firefighters on the scene.
About two hours after the fire was first reported, Inside Osogbo gave an update. They said the fire was still burning despite the efforts of the Federal Fire Service, Osun State Fire Service, and other responders.
"We appreciate the efforts of the officials of Federal Fire Service, Osun State Fire Service, and other emergency responders for not relenting. We hope that the fire will be totally quenched soon," the platform said. They also advised drivers to take alternative routes.
When asked about the fire, the Osun State Command of the Federal Fire Service confirmed it.
"Yes, it is true. The fire investigative department are there," an official said from the watchroom.
As of now, there is no official word on what caused the fire or if there were any injuries.
