The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN), the first female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), to set a good example and help other women who aspire to leadership roles.
The First Lady met with Mrs Badejo-Okusanya and a group of women lawyers on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja. She said that Mrs Badejo-Okusanya’s election shows more recognition for women and is a sign of women supporting each other.

She urged Mrs Badejo-Okusanya to use her time in office to create a path for more women to gain trust in leadership roles.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that before her official start as president, Mrs Badejo-Okusanya visited President Bola Tinubu at the State House.
"I believe your profession is quite conservative; mine is to wish you well and to thank all the women who stood by you."
"It is very important for women to support each other. We pray that your time in office would bring more women into leadership. You have to really set the standard high."
The First Lady also promised to assist the association in any way they need.
Mrs Badejo-Okusanya thanked the First Lady for welcoming her and her team. She recognized that NBA members are proud of the First Lady's work to reduce poverty through the "Renewed Hope" Initiative (RHI).

She added that her becoming NBA president is thanks to the support of other women in the legal field.
"Everybody played a part in ensuring my victory in the election. Honestly, Your Excellency, you have set a good example for others to follow. We in the legal profession know we have a role to play, too."
