Flamingos win WAFU-B title with perfect record

Nigeria’s Flamingos have won the 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup. They finished strong with a 4-0 win over Togo in the final.

The Nigerian team had a perfect run, winning all five matches in the tournament. Their performance showed they were the best team throughout.

Captain Chidera Harmony shone in the final. She scored two goals from the penalty spot, giving Nigeria a comfortable lead before half-time.

Harmony scored her first penalty in the 15th minute. She added another penalty 20 minutes later, sending the Flamingos into the break with a 2-0 lead.

After the break, Nigeria kept controlling the game. Oluebube Umejiaku scored in the 67th minute, adding to their lead.

The Flamingos kept pushing for more goals. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi sealed the win in the 90th minute, sparking celebrations.

This victory highlights a great tournament for the Flamingos. They balanced strong attacking play with solid defense.

Nigeria started the tournament with a 5-0 win over Niger Republic. Then they beat Ghana 4-2 in a thrilling match.

Next, they won against Burkina Faso 2-0, with late goals from Mary Dunstan and Adegbuyi. They also defeated hosts Côte d’Ivoire 2-0 with goals from Adegbuyi and Pattra Oparanmegwa.

The win against Togo capped off Nigeria’s five-match winning streak. They achieved the title without losing a single game.

For coach Hakeem Busari and his players, this victory is a big boost as they prepare for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
