The former deputy governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Kano for the 2023 elections, Yusuf Dambatta, has joined the All Progressives Congress.
Dambatta announced his shift from the PDP in a statement on Sunday. He said he made this choice after careful thought and discussions with his leaders, political allies, supporters, and other stakeholders.
"I hereby formally announce my decision to join the All Progressives Congress. This decision was taken after careful consideration and wide consultations with my leaders, political associates, supporters, and stakeholders," part of his statement said.
He is hopeful that the APC will give him a better chance to help the people of Kano and contribute to the development of the state and the country.
"I am equally motivated by the growing spirit of inclusiveness within the APC, the party’s commitment to the welfare of the people, and the opportunity to contribute more effectively to the advancement of our state and nation."
Dambatta also mentioned that he is inspired by the leadership of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf. He praised the Kano First Agenda, which he believes shows a clear commitment to good governance, human capital development, and the overall growth of Kano State.
He promised to stay committed to serving the people, promoting unity, and pursuing policies that will improve peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
Dambatta thanked the members and leaders of the PDP for the relationships and experiences they shared over the years. He said, "I look forward to working with members of the APC and all well-meaning citizens in support of the Kano First Agenda and the continued development of our dear state."
