The family of late Nollywood actor Francis Duru has shared the details of his burial plans.
PREMIUM TIMES reported that the actor died in October at the age of 57. But the family did not reveal the cause of his death.
They made the announcement in a statement on the actor’s Instagram page on Monday. The statement was signed by his son, Ebuka Duru, and his sister, Anthonia Chenyi.
This announcement came after the family clarified a day before. They dismissed a viral flyer about the burial that claimed to be signed by Chenyi, Ebuka, and the actor’s daughter, Onyekachi.
The family said that funeral activities will start with a service of songs and tributes on 25 November. This will take place at the Family Worship Centre on Idris Gidado Street, Wuye, Abuja.
They also mentioned that another memorial service will happen on 10 December at the Duru family compound, where the late Pa Theophilus Ogide Duru lived, in Okai, Eziama, Isiala Mbano, Imo State.
The family announced that Francis Duru will be laid to rest on 11 December in the same area.
The statement included: "Sleep well, Chief Francis Duru. You may have gone ahead of us, but you will forever remain in our hearts."
They promised that Duru’s memory would stay alive in their hearts.
The family invited relatives, friends, colleagues, associates, and well-wishers to come together to celebrate the late actor’s life. They want to pay tribute to the values he stood for, like love, kindness, and compassion.
They also expressed their gratitude for the support they received during this hard time. They thanked everyone who reached out with calls, messages, prayers, and other acts of kindness.
"A remarkable life, a beautiful legacy, a star that will never stop shining. Though our beloved Chief Francis Duru has taken his final bow, his memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
"It is with heavy hearts but total submission to God that we share the details of his final journey home. We are preparing to honour and celebrate the life of a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who has stood with us."
